A Practice in Listening to the Inner Voice of Love
When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, in case they may invite you in return, and you would be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you, for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.
—Luke 14:12-14
Beloved,
When you receive anyone who is hurting in body, mind, or spirit you will be repaid at the resurrection. Not because this is an economic exchange, but because receiving those who are suffering expands your own capacity to receive my love.
This person is sharing their vulnerability - their weakness illuminates your weakness, their pain your pain, their fear your fear. They are allowing you to see your own places of need so you can receive my presence more fully.
You will begin learning how to recognize the sacred in all my beloved children (including yourself). Can you feel it enkindling - the light of my Divinity in you recognizing the light of Divinity in them?
My light, enkindled in this encounter, will put you into direct contact with my hesed (loving kindness, compassion, mercy). My hesed will become a part of you, enfleshed through your words and actions.
Your interactions with those who are suffering will bring you back to life, and awaken the life in others. When the time comes to return to my love you will already be one with me and all I created.
—Love
