+ My Beliefs & Spirituality

I am a Christian and a transitional deacon in the Episcopal Church. My roots go deep into my tradition, and my branches reach wide to encompass God's Spirit in all of creation.

I love my religion's sacred scriptures, rituals, and belief in divine incarnation through the person of Jesus. I also believe God goes by many different names, transcending any one religion, tradition, philosophy, group, or person. Divinity is vast, mysterious, and unifying. There are countless expressions of who God is and ways to connect with the Divine.

In my spiritual life, I seek to live in union with God, self, others, and the natural world. I believe every person has a divine spark that is part of God’s all encompassing love. Our task is to continually return to awareness of God’s presence abiding in us, and all around us.

+ My Call to Spiritual Guidance

I discerned my call to Spiritual Guidance through countless conversations with friends, classmates, church members, family, and colleagues that involved elements of holy listening. It became most evident to me when I mentored a college student following seminary and while meeting with patients as a Hospital Chaplain. I am currently in a two year certification program through Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation in Washington, D.C.

+ My Reiki Journey

I am a Reiki Master (Dr. Mikao Usui Lineage), which was a three year process including a two year apprenticeship under a Reiki Master Teacher. My training involved my own energy healing, inner work through depth psychology, commitment to a daily Reiki practice, and learning alongside a cohort.

+ My Education

I completed my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at Pepperdine University, Master of Divinity at Fuller Theological Seminary, Diploma in Anglican Studies from Seminary of the Southwest, and a year of doctoral studies in Christian Spirituality at Virignia Theological Seminary.

+ My Certifications & Trainings

I am trained in Hospital Chaplaincy (Association of Clinical Pastoral Education), Compassion Cultivation (Stanford Medicine), and Trauma Healing (Trauma Healing Institute). I studied in Germany and Israel, and taught English in Tanzania. Before moving home to San Diego, I lived in Philadelphia as a blogger and devotional writer for a Christian nonprofit.
