A Practice in Listening to the Inner Voice of Love

God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in the clouds, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.”

—Genesis 9:12-17

Beloved,

I have set my covenant in your heart. It is no longer something external, but a promise that is living inside of you. The more you move inward the more you will connect to my promise that is deep and abiding.

I want you to see everything through the filter of this covenantal promise. Look at the world through my beloved Noah’s rainbow, as if it was a film over your eyes.

As you look at the world from this perspective, you will always have the assurance that I am near. Whoever you talk to and whatever you encounter, you will see my promise clearly: I will never turn against you, I will always work on your behalf, from generation to generation I will be with you and protect you.

Having this vision will let you live securely. Even when you go through life’s storms, I can give you internal stability and peace. You don’t have to be overcome or swept off course. Just wait for the storm to pass. Stand your ground and find shelter in me.
