Expect Good Things Up Ahead

A Practice in Listening to the Inner Voice of Love
But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for he has been raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead, and indeed he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him.’ This is my message for you.”
So they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came to him, took hold of his feet, and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”—Matthew 28:1-10
Beloved,
Imagine the women’s excitement and fear at seeing my resurrected Son. They were embarking on unknown territory. “Go and tell my brothers,” but who would believe them? “Go to Galilee,” but then what?
I give you the strength and wherewithal to take risks and move forward. Set out, expecting to see good things. Anticipate encounters with my Son, waiting for you, up ahead.
My beloved Son goes ahead to prepare the way for you. It may feel like you are forging your own path, but when you make a decision, Jesus walks the path before you. As Jesus walks he leaves my peace, provision, surprises of joy, and hidden graces.
Jesus also prays for you. He walks where you will walk advocating on your behalf, drawing attention to pitfalls and vices. Whatever harmful situation you may walk into, Jesus has already been there and my Spirit will accompany you going into it. There is no challenge or temptation that can overtake you—Jesus has established a way out and my Spirit offers a way through (1 Corinthians 10:13).
