A Practice in Listening to the Inner Voice of Love

The Lord saw it, and it displeased him
that there was no justice.
He saw that there was no one,
and was appalled that there was no one to intervene;
so his own arm brought him victory,
and his righteousness upheld him.
He put on righteousness like a breastplate,
and a helmet of salvation on his head;
he put on garments of vengeance for clothing,
and wrapped himself in fury as in a mantle.

—Isaiah 59:15-17

Beloved,

Who will intervene for my suffering? Who will advocate for my people who are Indigenous, black, and of color? My queer children? My immigrants and refugees? My elderly, physically sick, and mentally ill?

Who will amplify the voices of my vulnerable?

This is an age-old question, one my people have never fully gotten right. But just as I raised up the prophets, I continue to raise up people around you to “do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8).

Will you join them? Will you enter into the dark places in your culture to bring light? Jesus did and look where it took him: to the full embodiment of my love, the outpouring of eternal love and salvation from the cross.

You can also be a conduit of my healing and transformation.

Beloved, you have a voice. Use it.
